The Progressive Conservatives have governed since 2019 and won 22 of 27 seats in April 2023, but Premier Dennis King resigned in February 2025. Rob Lantz served as interim premier, stepped aside so Bloyce Thompson could hold the office during the leadership race, then won the PC leadership on Feb. 7, 2026 (53.1%) and returned as premier on Feb. 9. Since 2023 the Greens have won by-elections in Borden-Kinkora (2024) and Cornwall-Meadowbank (July 2026), the Liberals took Charlottetown-Hillsborough Park (2025), and the PCs held Brackley-Hunter River and Georgetown-Pownal; ex-minister Gilles Arsenault was removed from cabinet and caucus in March 2026 and now sits as an independent. Liberal leader Robert Mitchell resigned in July 2026, and former Summerside mayor Dan Kutcher was acclaimed as leader-designate. The Liberals and Greens say Lantz lacks a public mandate and want an early election, and Elections PEI has referred irregularities in 2025 PC donations to the RCMP.
How we build this
Public numbers, reported the same way for every party.
Every figure links to its source: Elections PEI, the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island (67th General Assembly), published polls and news reports. The poll average is a plain mean of polls whose fieldwork ended within 30 days of the newest poll, or the last three polls if fewer. We don't weight pollsters, project seats or endorse anyone.
Churchill Strategy is an Edmonton event production and campaign firm.
