The short version
We collect very little. If you fill in the contact form or email us, we keep what you send so we can reply. If you subscribe to our newsletter, Substack holds your email address. We use basic website analytics to see which pages are read.
We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not send you marketing you have not asked for. Our website and newsletter are run on services based in the United States, which means information you send us is stored there.

What we collect, and why
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus basic statistics about how the website is used.
When you use the contact form
What Your name, your organisation, your email address, the place you are responsible for, your message and your timeline.
Why So we can read your enquiry and reply to it.
When you email us directly
What Whatever you choose to send — typically your name, email address and the contents of your message. If you write about collaborating, that may include your portfolio and where you are based.
Why So we can reply, and so we can get back in touch if a project later suits your discipline.
When you subscribe to our newsletter
What Your email address, and whether you open what we send.
Why To send you the newsletter you asked for. You can unsubscribe from any issue, and we will stop.
When you visit the website
What Which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, the type of device, and which site you arrived from. This is collected by [SQUARESPACE ANALYTICS / SQUARESPACE ANALYTICS AND GOOGLE ANALYTICS — CONFIRM WHICH].
Why To understand which pages are useful. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
What we do not do: we do not sell or rent your information, we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing, and we do not add you to a newsletter because you contacted us.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of established services to run the website and the newsletter. Each holds some information on our behalf, under their own privacy terms.
Where your information is stored
Squarespace and Substack are based in the United States. That means information you send through this website, or your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, is stored on servers outside Canada and is subject to the laws of that country.
If you would prefer not to have your information stored outside Canada, contact us by telephone on 780-708-2807 instead of using the form.
Your rights
The information is yours. You can ask us what we hold about you and what we have done with it, and you can ask us to change or delete it.
- Ask what we hold. We will tell you what information about you we have, and why we have it.
- Correct it. If something is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
- Delete it. Ask us to delete your information and we will, unless we are required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons — in which case we will tell you which and for how long.
- Withdraw consent. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, from the link in any issue or by emailing us.

How to ask
Email winston.pon@churchillstrategy.ca with what you would like. There is no form and no process — a sentence is enough.
We will respond within [30 DAYS — CONFIRM]. We may need to verify who you are before sharing information, which protects you as much as us.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses two kinds: the ones Squarespace needs for the site to work at all, and the ones that count page views.
When you first arrive you will see a notice about cookies, and you can decline the ones that are not necessary. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time — the site will still work.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising on this site.

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top of it. We review this policy at least once a year.
