What does working with Churchill Strategy actually involve?
A written position first, then the coalition and the campaign — run by the partner who wrote it.
Every engagement opens with a written point of view on your situation, delivered in fourteen days. If you proceed, we build the argument, assemble the coalition and run the campaign. We work at strategy and persuasion only — we decline implementation, and we do not put juniors on the file.
What are the four practice lines?
The Mandate — permission to govern, legislate or proceed
Election and referendum campaigns, nomination contests, advocacy, government relations, and coalition-building around a policy or a project. War room operations where the fight is live. Built on two provincial war rooms, a full premiership inside the Premier's office, and three campaigns run across more than one order of government in a single year.
Crossover persuasion. A particular specialism: winning over an electorate that has prior reasons to be sceptical. Bringing a new community into a coalition, running a candidate who does not look like the last one, or carrying a nomination where the membership needs convincing before it can be organised. Most of this work is not advertising — it is persuasion inside a closed room that advertising cannot reach.
The Standing — being believed when it counts
Institutional reputation, governance questions, funding defence and crisis. For organisations whose case has to hold in a committee room, a board meeting or a bad week of coverage.
The Fixture — winning the place on the calendar
Federation bids, host-city and host-country campaigns, major event delivery, and the public case that surrounds them. Currently organising the Pan American Traditional Lion Dance Sport Championship for Canada in 2026.
The Welcome — being chosen over the alternative
Destination and tourism boards, place marketing, cultural district and precinct work, and visitor products that have to actually exist rather than be described in a deck.
What happens, and in what order?
Week one
You hold something real: the stakeholder and opposition map, the arguments against you with the answers, and a baseline read of where public belief sits today. Everything afterwards is measured against that baseline.
The engagement
The campaign, the coalition, the lines and the rooms. We convene, we brief, we write, and we sit in the difficult meeting. Your job is to decide, not to produce.
Throughout
The partner who wrote the position does the work. If they are substituted without your written agreement, that month is free.
What will you not do?
We decline implementation, we decline work where we would be confirming a decision already made, and we decline competing interests in the same jurisdiction.
Implementation
Running the ads, cutting the video, managing the posting schedule, organising the door-knock. It is priced by the hour, it is replaceable by a junior, and it is not what we are for. We will recommend people who do it well.
Confirmation
If the decision is made and what is wanted is a document supporting it, we are the wrong firm. Every engagement begins with a written terms of candour setting out what we will tell you even when you would rather not hear it.
Start with a written position
